Surfers & Whales – A Natural Connection
Did you know? … It was a Vancouver Is. surfer who, on finding he was sharing the waves with whales at Long Beach, began to set the record straight.
Dr. Jim Darling began to document the local group of returning summer resident Gray Whales where the scientific literature had said there were no whales. Some of the same individual Gray Whales who surfed with Jim off Long Beach in the mid-70’s are on our coast today, waiting patiently in Ahous Bay for the signal to begin their migration south for the winter
